Following the very successful HiTech 2000 event held in Lisbon last year, Cisco is pleased to host HiTech 2001, in conjunction with the TERENA Networking Conference 2001. The HiTech 2001 event will be held at the Talya Convention Centre in Antalya on 17 and 18 May 2001. Participants of the TERENA conference are invited to attend HiTech 2001 free of charge, but must register for the event separately using Cisco's on-line Registration Form.

The evolution of networks that we have seen over the past year has been fantastic. Two particular technologies have become the focus of much attention over the past year:

  • The ability of network users to move around while connected to the network - through wireless LANs, data traffic on mobile networks, and even more novel combinations.
  • The ability of networks to provide the performance people need, when they need it, with assurance that it will retain the quality that they need.
This is complemented by novel techniques on how to use the network, such as by distributing content to near to where the users are located, moving disparate technologies that previously required separate networks onto the converged infrastructure of the IP network, and so on. In all these areas, Cisco solutions and technologies form part of the core infrastructure.
