The TERENA Networking Conference 2001 will be held in Antalya, a famous resort on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. Founded in the second century BC, Antalya is an attractive city with shady palm-lined boulevards and a prize-winning marina. In the picturesque old quarter, narrow, winding streets and old wooden houses abut the ancient city walls. The landscape surrounding the city is spectacular with the pine-clad Taurus Mountains sweeping down to the sparkling, clear Mediterranean Sea. The region has many historical sites within easy reach of the city and, with over 300 days of sunshine a year, it is the perfect location for swimming, sunbathing and sporting activities such as windsurfing, water-skiing, sailing, mountain climbing and caving.
Antalya has a spacious modern airport served by regular scheduled flights from Istanbul and Ankara as well as by direct international flights from some Western European cities. The "How to Get to Antlaya" page provides further information about travelling to Antalya.
The conference itself will be held in the brand-new, purpose-built Talya Convention Centre, which offers four flexible meeting rooms, equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment. The Convention Centre is part of the Talya Hotel and is located 11 km from Antalya airport and a 20-minute walk from the heart of the city centre. TERENA will provide bus transportation between the Convention Centre and the conference hotels.
